For more than three decades, Leo Palazzo has been a defining presence in Louisiana’s legal community. A graduate of the University of New Orleans and Loyola University New Orleans College of Law, Palazzo distinguished himself early, serving as Student Body President, competing on Loyola’s National Trial Team, and representing indigent clients through the law clinic after being sworn in by the Louisiana Supreme Court.
His career spans nearly every level of the justice system. As Plaquemines Parish Attorney, Palazzo cleared a backlog of thousands of cases, saved the parish millions, and led the legal effort that secured significant oil revenue funds owed to Plaquemines Parish. In private practice, he founded the Palazzo Law Firm and built a reputation as one of the region’s most assertive and effective trial attorneys, earning peer-bestowed honors including Super Lawyer, Top Lawyer, and recognition for excellence in criminal, personal injury, and general litigation.
Palazzo’s civic footprint is equally broad. He has raised substantial funds for local schools, supported youth programs, served as an Auxiliary Plaquemines Parish Deputy, and helped fund two sheriff’s K9 units. His involvement spans PABI, the Rotary Club of Belle Chasse, Ducks Unlimited, the Coastal Conservation Association, the NRA, and multiple bar associations.
Admitted to practice in all Louisiana district and appellate courts, the U.S. District Courts for the
Eastern, Middle, and Western Districts of Louisiana, the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, the Louisiana Supreme Court, and the United States Supreme Court, Palazzo’s legal reach reflects a lifetime committed to public service and the people of Plaquemines Parish.
Leo Palazzo, a Republican, lives in Belle Chasse with his wife, Dana, and their son, Leonardo.
